Over one hundred Watauga College students, faculty, and staff spent the day building a new section of the Appalachian Trail at Carvers Gap along with members of the Tennessee Eastman Hiking and Canoeing Club and with support from the Appalachian Trail Conference. One of the largest one day projects on the AT, Wataugans cut new trail through spruce forest and repaired erosion on the environmentally sensitive grassy bald of Roan Mountain.
